SAFIRA - Safety and distance in public transport through passenger guidance
Public transport has been particularly affected by the Corona pandemic. During the crisis, passenger numbers have fallen sharply and people's mobility has changed in terms of time and space. At the same time, there are high expectations for local public transport in achieving the transport revolution. For this very reason, local public transport must regain trust and reposition itself through data innovations in order to perform its future tasks and better cope with new crisis situations.
Real-time utilization data will be developed into reliable forecasts using AI approaches, transferred to the VBB passenger information system and made available to third parties. The goal is to guide passengers to avoid congestion during regular operations, in crisis situations, or during special peaks in traffic. A more even utilization of vehicles also supports the traffic turnaround in that the expected increase in demand is more likely to be met with existing vehicle and infrastructure capacities.
